- Where do I get my soil test? We do not conduct soil tests.
However you can obtain them from the UK Cooperative Extension Service on
Red Mile Road or through a vendor, such as Southern States. More
information on soil tests can be found by clicking
here.
- Do you have a copy of the Fayette County Soil Survey?
We
currently do not have copies of the soil survey as it is out of print.
However, we can provide you with copies of the individual sheets and soil
descriptions. You can also find out the info on the
Soil Data Mart.
- Can someone come and speak to my classroom or group?
We are available to speak to your
class or group on a variety of subjects. Please contact us to
schedule a topic for your group.
- Do you pay for perimeter/exterior/boundary fencing for my farm?
We do not cover this cost share program. Contact Josh Long, Fayette County
Agriculture Extension Agent, at 257-5587.
- How are you funded?
We are funded by a portion of the property
taxes of Fayette County residents and from some state funding.
- Can you come look at my pond?
If it regards to fish,
wildlife, or aquatic vegetation (cattails, etc) issues, you will need to
contact Carey Prather with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife at
1-800-858-1549 ext 364 or Clay Smitson at 246-2818. Otherwise, if it
is a leaky pond or a need of constructing a new pond, then our office can
assist you.
- What is a Conservation District?
Kentucky has 121 local conservation
districts, organized under Chapter 262 of Kentucky's Revised
Statutes, which have a responsibility to coordinate assistance from all
available sources--public, private, local, state and federal in an effort
to develop locally driven solutions to natural resource concerns.

How do I become a
Conservation District Supervisor? If a term has expired, the
process, in July, would be to obtain and complete a petition from the
county clerk's office, obtain the required minimum of 25 signatures from
local registered voters and submit the petition to the county clerk.

What is the difference between the Conservation District & NRCS? The Conservation District is
funded local and state government, whereas NRCS is a Federal USDA agency.
Each provide different programs, but we partner together to provide
service for the Fayette County agriculture community.
